Your data can sit in Frankfurt and still answer to Washington. The US CLOUD Act compels US-incorporated providers to hand over data stored anywhere in the world, while GDPR gives you no legal basis to comply. An EU region label doesn't protect you; the provider's passport decides.

  • Full-stack sovereignty doesn't exist in 2026.

    NVIDIA dominates AI hardware. Advanced chips run through a handful of fabs. Anyone selling you "complete independence" is selling you a story. What you can do is map every dependency, document your exposure, and design around it.

  • Removing hyperscalers is not the answer

    Frontier capability still matters, and no European enterprise will shift entirely off global providers in the short term. Forcing a binary choice means either falling behind or buying a sovereignty label that won't survive due diligence.

  • The real answer isn't binary

    It's graded sovereignty by workload. Your public-facing chatbot and your defense-relevant document system don't need the same architecture. Sensitive workloads get jurisdictional isolation; everything else keeps hyperscaler scale and economics. That's the framing that survives technical due diligence, regulatory audits, and your CFO.
