Nicolas Deruytter
CEO & Founder
Nicolas is the founder and CEO of ML6, where he has transformed a pioneering idea into one of Europe’s leading AI companies. Since its creation in 2013, Nicolas has steered ML6 through 10x growth and four consecutive Deloitte Fast 50 recognitions, proving the power of his vision for sustainable innovation.
At the intersection of business, technology, and society, Nicolas thrives on creating meaningful impact. He is a sought-after speaker on entrepreneurship, innovation, and the practical value of AI, and he shares his expertise as a guest lecturer in Vlerick Business School’s AI & Big Data programme. Beyond the business world, Nicolas actively shapes the Belgian AI landscape as a member of the AI4Belgium think tank, advising the government on national AI strategy. His leadership has been recognized with nominations as IT Person of the Year (2021 and 2022).
As a board member of Voka, Flanders’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nicolas helps shape the broader innovation ecosystem. With master’s degrees in operations research, industrial engineering, and mechatronics from Ghent University, he combines deep technical expertise with entrepreneurial drive.
Matthias is the driving force behind technical innovation at ML6, ensuring that clients not only keep pace with the future but help define it. As CTO/Q, he bridges cutting-edge research with real-world applications, shaping ML6’s technology strategy, building the right partnerships, and ensuring every project delivers maximum impact.
A passionate mentor and ecosystem builder, Matthias coaches the next generation of AI talent, fuels the ML community through meetups and initiatives, and serves as a trusted advisor for startups, universities, and the Flemish Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
From his early research in deep learning and event extraction at Ghent University to cofounding ML6 in its pioneering days, Matthias has consistently been ahead of the curve—spotting opportunities before they become mainstream. Recognized as a Google Developer Expert for both GCP and Machine Learning, he embodies the rare combination of visionary leadership, hands-on expertise, and an unwavering drive to turn emerging technologies into transformative business results.
