From AI ambition to an ExCo mandate in five weeks.

Aspiravi is a Belgian renewable energy producer, owned by 88 municipalities and more than 13,000 citizen cooperators. Together with ML6, Aspiravi ran a five-week AI advisory track that turned scattered ideas into an AI strategy and roadmap its ExCo has endorsed. The ExCo now has a mandate on where and how to start.

Every department had ideas, the AI Lab was experimenting, and every software vendor was pitching AI features. Aspiravi needed to know where to start. In five weeks, leadership interviews, five departmental deep-dives and one ideation workshop produced a scored longlist of use cases, a set of strategic bets, quick-win MVPs prototyped, and a proposed AI Transformation Office to govern the rollout.. The ExCo endorsed the roadmap and selected the first strategic bet, now scoped into a phased value and investment case, for implementation.
About Aspiravi
Aspiravi is a Belgian renewable energy producer headquartered in Kortrijk. It's owned by 88 municipal shareholders and more than 13,000 citizen cooperators, and it operates around 1,800 MW of onshore and offshore wind, biomass, and storage across Belgium, France, Spain, Scotland, and Curaçao.
Aspiravi covers the whole value chain in-house, from site identification and permitting through construction and O&M to energy sales and portfolio management. With Aspiravi Energy Control, it's now expanding into direct B2B energy supply. In a market that's getting more competitive and more complex, Aspiravi needed to know where AI creates the most value and what leadership should commit to first.
Impact
weeks from an open question to an ExCo-endorsed roadmap, delivered on plan.
departmental deep-dives: plus leadership interviews and 1 ideation workshop, covering the whole organization.
10+ use cases scored on value and effort, turning scattered department ideas into one ranked list of quick wins and strategic bets.
Leadership now sees where AI creates value, what to prioritize and how to organize adoption.
Focused on one of Aspiravi’s core strategic priorities, scoped into a phased value and investment case and selected for implementation, with ML6 as build partner.
Challenge
Aspiravi was convinced of AI's potential. The hard part was knowing where to start.
Ideas everywhere, no shared priorities
01An internal AI Lab was experimenting and ideas surfaced in every department, but there was no shared view of which opportunities mattered most.
Vendor noise
02Every new software vendor was pitching AI features, which made it harder to tell which ones would add value.
Unclear readiness
03There were no guardrails or governance to roll AI out across the organization, and no clear picture of how ready its people and data were.
Decisions on experience and scattered data
04Many key decisions still relied on experience and on data spread across systems that didn't tell one consistent story.
A changing market
05The energy market is becoming more competitive and more volatile, and Aspiravi’s own business is evolving with it. Leadership needed to know where AI would matter most in this shift.
Solution
ML6 ran a five-week AI advisory track in five work packages.
Agreed scope, stakeholders and success criteria with Aspiravi's project owner, so every later step answered the same question.
Leadership interviews and deep-dives with every department built one shared picture of strategy, AI maturity, data readiness and ambition.
Inspired by what AI makes possible, each business department brought forward its own ideas. We scored 10+ use cases on value and effort, combining the bottom-up input from the departments with the top-down strategy from leadership. That surfaced quick wins across the departments and 2 strategic bets tied to where Aspiravi is heading.
Design & Roadmap
- AI in everyone’s hands: AI literacy and adoption across every business unit. To roll this out safely, ML6 proposed an AI Transformation Office for guardrails and governance, as a base for a broader AI structure.
- AI inside the software we buy: procurement guardrails and AI requirements for vendors, backed by technology-agnostic data and tooling principles to guide upcoming platform and software decisions.
- AI built for what makes us different: custom AI for the strategic bets that set Aspiravi apart. The bet with the most potential was built into a phased value and investment case.
The final session where the ExCo endorsed the roadmap and selected the first strategic bet for implementation.
Results
One shared picture
leadership and every department share one view of where AI creates value and how ready the organization is.
A clear path to adopt AI
three routes and a proposed governance setup, instead of scattered experiments.
From roadmap to build
ML6 and Aspiravi are partnering on the first strategic bet, aimed at Aspiravi’s evolving market position, turning the investment case into a phased build.
The Collaboration
The track was co-created with Aspiravi. Our team brought applied AI expertise and hands-on energy-sector knowledge, so each use case was weighed on what AI can do and how it fits its business. Aspiravi was involved at every step: leadership set the strategic direction, and each department brought its own ideas and helped score them. The result is a roadmap Aspiravi recognizes as its own, and a partnership that continues as both join forces on the first strategic bet.

Aspiravi's track took five weeks, organized in five work packages: from leadership interviews and departmental deep-dives, through an ideation workshop, to an ExCo session that turned the roadmap into decisions.
End the strategy work with decisions. Aspiravi's track closed with an ExCo presentation that translated the roadmap into concrete choices, including a phased value and investment case for the first strategic bet, which was then selected for implementation.
Start with a shared view of where AI creates value. Aspiravi combined leadership interviews and deep-dives with every business unit to assess strategy, AI maturity, and data readiness, then scored use cases against its business priorities before committing to a first strategic bet.
Both. ML6 is an AI engineering company with 13 years of AI-native expertise and 400+ projects delivered. During Aspiravi's track, quick-win MVPs were prototyped in the workshop itself.
