Jan Van Looy is Project Manager and Computer Vision Chapter Lead. As a Project Manager he works closely together with both the customer and the development team to make sure that all project requirements are optimally addressed and the highest possible value is created for everyone involved. Trust, transparency, and openness to change are some of the key ingredients of this process.

As Lead of the Computer Vision Chapter, Jan represents a group of high-level computer vision experts specialized in a range of subdomains, from video analysis to AI-generated media content. His goal thereby is to follow the state of the art, set out a research agenda and promote the Chapter’s knowledge and expertise within ML6, for example through the Chapter Conferences, and outside through blog posts, open sourcing and conference presentations.

Before ML6, Jan worked in academia as a senior researcher at a number of institutions and as Project Manager for imec where he set up and coordinated a range of projects in the computer vision domain working closely together with industry. As such he combines practical experience in running innovative projects and teams with expertise in research planning and execution.
